Today, there are over 550,000 homeless LGBTQ+ youth living without shelter and protection in the United States. Without protective outerwear, winters are brutal and can even be deadly.
At Knit the Rainbow (KtR), we work to provide handmade knit and crochet winter garments for the hundreds of thousands of homeless LGBTQ+ youth struggling to survive. These handmade garments from volunteers around the country, not only administer life-saving warmth, but also provide these young people with the love and compassion they weren't offered at home.
